A group of government school children enthusiastically play with a wooden craft puzzle. In 1998 Sutradhar produced an "Early Learning Kit", tested in cooperation with 1000 Karnataka anganwadis. A large theme within Sutradhar's philosophy involves improving the abysmal conditions of government schools so that every child can have a deservedly enriching education. |
Most of Sutradhar's toys focus
on preschool children, who at ages 3-5 are at a critical stage in learning.
This age range is often neglected by mainstream NGOs and govn't agencies.

A youngster and his friend demonstrate an inherent facet of the "Learning-by-playing" teaching methodology. Children who build a toy almost invariably want to share the joy of creation with another child, thereby building bonds with one another and inculcating a sense of community within the classroom itself. |
